Mushroom for Africa International (MUSH-FA) has been established to coordinate the activities in the mushroom value chain. The organisation with its Secretariat in South Africa, will be a confederation of all Mushroom stakeholders, which will provide technical support to mushroom producers and industry players in the continent. From the producers to the off-takers, MUSHFA will work with regional farmersâ organisations and national mushroom associations to provide necessary upliftment and support for the mushroom industry. It will have the following objectives:
- To inspire / jumpstart a mushroom revolution, a collective inspiration and innovation, for the mushroom value chain in the continent
- To provide a platform through which mushroom farmers and industry players will discuss new and future trends in the mushroom value chain in the continent- both in edible and medicinal.
- To provide and organise training for the cultivation and production of mushrooms in the continent- both edible and medicinal
- To promote a collective African voice in the mushroom industry- both in edible and medicinal mushrooms
- To establish continental affiliations with different associations and industry bodies and players.
- To promote research and education of new trends in the African mushroom industry and to facilitate/create pathways between producers and off-takers
- To birth a community/ smallholder interest in the growing of mushrooms in the continent as a way of creating job opportunities for women and youth.
